The Farmer’s Market is Here!

The Globe-Miami Farmer’s Market opens in June! Now in its eighth year, the joint effort between the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, AmeriCorps VISTA, and the Gila County Master Gardener Association has grown to become a beloved summer tradition. You’ll find it every Saturday at 150 N. Pine Street from 8 – 11 a.m. through October.

There’s a lot more to this market than fruits and veggies. You’ll also find delicious home baked treats, fresh cuts of meat from local farms, and a variety of craft items. Fresh, locally grown, seasonal and organic, it’s the perfect place to get a real taste of Arizona and fall in love with a new twist on favorite dishes.

Market Madness

Compost tea and unique pies are just a couple of favorite items at the market. However, with new vendors being added all the time, every trip is a surprise. One popular vendor is Margaret Greenwood of Trellised Gardens. Skilled at growing vegetables in the Arizona climate, she created the square food gardening method using herbs for seasoning home-grown veggies. Here, you can buy heirloom seeds, worm tea, and more unique tools for starting your own garden.

The Rustic Bar Soap Company by Kristal and Yvonne Freeman turns soap into a masterpiece. All natural, this “soap peddler” offers good that smell amazing and are decadent on the skin. What will you discover when you go to market?
