The BEST WESTERN Copper Hills Inn is nestled in the heart of one of Arizona’s most historically rich communities. Within just 18 square miles, Globe boasts an impressive history that’s full of Wild West stories you’ll hardly believe. Lynda Carter, better known as Wonder Woman, hails from Globe so it’s clear this is one town that’s out of this world. Today, some of the biggest tourist attractions include the four-story Gila County Courthouse and jail, built in 1905. The Drift Inn Saloon is a favorite in historic downtown Globe and has been serving patrons since 1902.

The tallest three-story property in the world, Elks Lodge of Globe, was built in 1910 and now operates as an antiques store where you can find one-of-a-kind keepsakes. Stroll by the Murphy Hotel, built in 1916 and closed in the 70s. While no longer operational, the beautiful architecture is worth a peek. Next, head to the 1916 Woolworth Building, which was the last Woolworth to shut its doors west of the Mississippi. Today it’s the United Jewelry Company, and a genuine treasure trove.
The Globe theater is an art deco masterpiece featuring a beautiful balcony, old fashioned concession stand and copper columns. Arizona’s oldest high school, Globe High School, was built in 1910 and is still the home away from home for local teens. If you are in the mood for some pampering, visit the spa at Gila Valley Bank and Trust’s building, a 1909 beauty originally created by Chicago’s Sullivan architects and now a luxurious day spa.
Take in the view atop a seven-story bell tower at the still operating Holy Angels Catholic Church, built in 1918. The antiques and fabric mall, shaped like Arizona, was originally the Hill Street Mall or “Johnny’s Country Corner” and in nearly 100 years has served as a Coca-Cola bottling plant, Safeway and Gila County Museum (to name just a few).
Guests looking for a little more adventure will find they’re just 15 minutes from Roosevelt Lake, 20 minutes from San Carlos Lake and a short drive to white water rafting and tubing at Salt River. Hiking trails abound near your Globe hotel, and hunting at Pinal Mountain can’t be missed. Visit the Apache Reservation and the Indian Ruins at Tonto National Ruins and Apache Ruins.
