A worthwhile low-cost adventure in and near Sedona
There are many free or very affordable activities to do and see in and around Sedona and booking your accommodations early to get the best rates and avoid the most costly meals. At a cost comparable to other towns in this region of the United States, you can easily spend a few days in this beautiful town.
Wander around the downtown Sedona
Uptown Sedona is relatively modest and walkable. Walking around Sedona’s main streets is the cheapest thing to do. Most souvenir and clothing businesses place misters outside their doors to keep you cool. Sedona is also in a beautiful position, so sitting outside in a shaded cafe can be a relaxing experience.

Drive to a lookout
The nearest Vortex to Sedona’s core is Airport Mesa, just along Airport Road. From here, you may obtain a bird’s eye perspective of the town and the surrounding red rocks. Even if you may not want to go inside a vortex, the journey to the Airport Road overlook is worthwhile.

Go splash around at Slide Rock State Park
If the summer heat becomes intolerable, head outside of town to Slide Rock State Park. Slide Rock State Park is named after a natural water slide carved into Oak Creek’s riverbed. The park will cost you back $20 per car, but it is worth it. In the summer, Slide Rock attracts many visitors, so I recommend arriving early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid crowds.
